Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR)
Background
The SEIVA Project – Energy Systems and Green Infrastructures for Agriculture aimed to promote sustainable production and consumption models through Nature-based Solutions (NbS).
Its main activities included:
Implementing green roofs for agricultural production and local consumption.
Creating green walls, reusing rainwater and/or treated wastewater for irrigation.
Developing bioelectricity production systems using plant-based microbial fuel cells.
Specific objectives
SO1: Promote sustainable production and consumption models based on nature, enhancing circular economy practices and territorial valorization.
SO2: Encourage open and critical dialogue on new environmental challenges, promoting practices that value local products, efficient resource use, and waste reduction.
SO3: Carry out capacity-building actions for economic agents, fostering more sustainable policies and practices, and encouraging changes in individual and collective behavior.
As part of the project, a Training on Green Roofs and Green Walls was organized to share benefits, technical aspects, and best practices for the implementation and maintenance of such infrastructures.
ANCV’s Role
The Portuguese National Association of Green Roofs (ANCV) contributed actively to the SEIVA project through:
