ANCV Membership | Penafiel City Council Signs Protocol with ANCV
On June 5, in celebration of World Environment Day, the Penafiel City Council signed a membership protocol with the National Association for Green Roofs (ANCV), reaffirming its commitment to urban sustainability, biodiversity promotion, and the implementation of Nature-Based Solutions (NbS).
The opening session featured Eng. Elsa Rocha, Head of the Division of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Mayor of Penafiel, Dr. Antonino de Sousa, who emphasized the municipality’s responsibility and dedication to advancing public policies focused on sustainability.
A highlight of the event was the official signing of the membership protocol with ANCV by the Mayor himself.
The day continued with a training session for Penafiel's municipal technicians, led by Eng. Paulo Palha, President of ANCV and of the European Federation of Green Roof and Green Wall Associations (EFB). The session underscored the vital role of green infrastructure in cities—not only as ecological solutions, but also as essential tools for urban resilience and enhancing quality of life for local communities.
