GoNaturePositive! Consortium Meeting in Italy

The Portuguese National Association for Green Roofs (ANCV) was represented by its Executive Coordinator, Isabella Costa, at the recent GoNaturePositive! consortium meeting, held from May 19 to 22 in Milan and the Valsugana Valley, Trento, Italy. This four-day event brought together over 80 European partners—including researchers, policymakers, private sector representatives, and civil society organizations—with the goal of accelerating the transition to a nature-positive economy.

Key Activities and Contributions:

Development of Frameworks and Indicators – On the first day in Milan, participants worked on creating practical frameworks and metrics to assess and monitor progress in nature-positive activities across various sectors.

Impact Mapping Workshops – During interactive sessions, participants mapped economic activities that currently harm or benefit ecosystems.

Field Visits and Local Case Studies – In the Valsugana Valley, the consortium visited Arte Sella, an inspiring example of the intersection between art, tourism, and nature conservation. Participants also explored certified local sustainable tourism practices aligned with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council standards, highlighting the importance of integrating nature-positive strategies in community-led local initiatives.

Looking Ahead:

This consortium meeting marked an important milestone for strengthening cross-sector collaboration and building consensus. It also reinforced the understanding that while global frameworks provide guidance, local action and contextual knowledge are essential for successful implementation.
