ANCV Provides Training for Municipal Technicians of the Matosinhos City Council
On September 18, 2024, the ANCV (Portuguese National Association for Green Roofs) hosted an important training session for municipal technicians as part of the “Technical Consultancy in Nature-Based Solutions for Buildings and Cities” project. The event, held in the Noble Hall of the Matosinhos City Council, brought together experts in the field to equip participants with knowledge on Nature-Based Solutions (NBS).
The opening session was attended by the Mayor of Matosinhos, Dr. Luísa Salgueiro, and the Councillor, Eng. Maria Manuela Álvares.
The first part of the training was led by Eng. Paulo Palha, President of the ANCV and the European Federation of Green Roof and Green Wall Associations (EFB). He emphasized the crucial role of Nature-Based Solutions in enhancing urban resilience against climate change. Landscape architect Ana Teixeira Mesquita, a board member of the ANCV, presented case studies on the design, construction, and maintenance of green roofs, adding practical examples to enrich the discussion.
This training marked a significant step in preparing and raising awareness among municipal technicians regarding best practices in green infrastructure, with the aim of transforming Matosinhos into a greener and more resilient city.
“The evidence that green roofs can be part of the solution motivated us to form this partnership with the ANCV, which has been working with several Portuguese municipalities to support them in making these decisions, taking into account the diversity of the territory and the different local realities,” concluded Mayor Luísa Salgueiro.
