ANCV Concludes Green Roof Internships for Erasmus+ Students in Portugal

Today, September 13, 2024, marked the final day of the 20 Erasmus+ students' internships in Portugal, organized by the National Association of Green Roofs (ANCV). These internships, part of the European Erasmus project (https://green-roofs.eu/), aimed to develop and apply practical knowledge on Nature-Based Solutions, particularly Green Roofs.

During the internship period, which ran from July 29 to September 13, students participated in a series of enriching activities. Some of the most significant included:

- City Tour: Identifying streets in need of tree planting to mitigate the "Urban Heat Island" effect (CCV Bragança, Lipor, CMIA, Fibran, Imperalum);
- Workshop Preparation: Organizing a free public workshop on Green Roofs (CCV Bragança);
- Workshops for Host Organizations' Staff (Lipor, CMIA, Fibran, Imperalum);
- Technical Visits: Conducting technical visits to the companies and institutions hosting the interns (Lipor, CMIA, Fibran, Imperalum);
- Project Development: Creating projects for implementing Green Roofs on existing buildings (CCV Bragança, Lipor, CMIA, Fibran, Imperalum);
- Indicator Matrix: Developing a matrix of indicators to monitor and evaluate environmental solutions (Lipor);
- Thermal Insulation Solutions: Conducting studies on thermal insulation solutions (CMIA, Fibran, Imperalum);
- Final Report: At the end of the internship, each student prepared an individual report detailing their experiences, activities, challenges faced, and what they enjoyed most about the internship (Lipor, CMIA, Fibran, Imperalum).

This internship was an enriching experience for both the students and the institutions involved, contributing to the development of professionals skilled in sustainability practices. The institutions that played a key role in this training were the Environmental Monitoring and Interpretation Center of Vila do Conde (CMIA Vila do Conde), the Bragança Ciência Viva Center (CCVB), LIPOR – Association of Municipalities for Sustainable Waste Management of Greater Porto, Iberfibran - Polystyrene Extruded SA, and Imperalum.

Each of these institutions played a fundamental role in hosting and guiding the students through their practical activities.
