CIM Cávado promotes Online Training for Green Roofs in partnership with ANCV | September 25

Within the scope of the Action Plan of the 6th Edition of the AQUA Cávado Project: the river that unites us, year 2020, CIM Cávado, in partnership with the National Association of Green Coverings (ANCV), will promote training on September 25, 2020 de Coberturas Verdes, as the objective of raising awareness of the importance of this type of infrastructure in cities as a way of minimizing the impacts of climate change, and consequently in the quality of life of the populations.

The European Community has set an ambitious target for green infrastructure and biodiversity for 2020. The plan is to use, in addition to the fundamental green corridors, the green roofs and walls as a way to increase the green area in densely built spaces, due to the evident and diverse ecosystem services they bring to the cities.

The ecosystem services that can result from this can contribute decisively to, or even solve, growing problems such as: pollution, heat island effect, greenhouse effect, precipitation peaks and consequent floods, decreased biodiversity, among others. Only then will it be possible to promote resilient cities, which respect and promote the living conditions of their inhabitants, and which are easier and more economical to manage.

On the other hand, training seeks to be a very important contribution to the implementation of the Action Plan of the Intermunicipal Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change of NUT III Cávado, a strategy promoted by CIM Cávado in collaboration with the Municipalities of Cávado, as a presentation of implementation solutions mitigation / adaptation measure to climate change in the identified vulnerabilities of the territory.

The training will be conducted by the National Association of Green Roofs (ANCV), and is aimed at Municipal Technicians, university students and other interested parties.
