The Portuguese Water Academy (Academia Portuguesa da Água - Dr. Francisco da Fonseca Henriques - Associação sem fins lucrativos) was established based on the understanding that water is a resource of natural, scientific, cultural, and civilizational relevance.
Inspired by the legacy of its patron, Dr. Francisco da Fonseca Henriques, physician and author of Aquilegio Medicinal, the Academy’s mission is to preserve, study, and disseminate knowledge related to water, particularly in the fields of thermalism, medical hydrology, and health.

Founded as a non-profit association, the Academy operates as a forum for reflection, dialogue, and knowledge production, bringing together specialists, institutions, municipalities, and citizens around water as a common good and a factor in development.
